Its urban structure is typically medieval : starting from an initial core , the houses are wrapped around the promontory, becoming one with the rock , and embracing one another in their defense . The village is built so , on the spur of St. Albert the Great, in the purest and spontaneous Mediterranean architecture, with narrow alleys and stairways to make long arduous raids of pirates . The Regional Park of the Olive Venafro is the first protected area dedicated to the olive tree, the only one of its kind in the Mediterranean. Its establishment is to promote and preserve the traditional olive groves that had Venafro pomp and splendor, so that the Romans believed the oil produced on site the most valuable of the ancient world. No place in the world planted with olive trees, in fact, can boast similar traditions and literary quotations. The park is also an opportunity for redemption for an area that has suffered in recent decades from neglect and abandonment, in spite of its landscape quality, nature and history.

The Castle of Venafro Pandone The Castle Pandone of Venafro was built on an original masonry sannitica which was superimposed later a Roman fort . In the Lombard period , also , around the tenth century , was built , in the same complex , a quadrangular enclosure with several towers of which the most visible is on the north side of the castle. Immediately after the earthquake of 1349, the Angevin did add to the fortification of three cylindrical towers and a moat . In 1443 Francis Pandone got the castle directly by Alfonso of Aragon, who handed it to her along with the County Venafro . The Pandone immediately began work on a protected walkway for guards that connected the two inputs of the castle, in turn, secured with two drawbridges (however, made fixed). Similarly were restored the tank and its mechanism for collecting rainwater . The fort gradually transformed into a stately home thanks to Henry Pando , who succeeded his father in 1498. They moved to the castle in a stable manner but only around 1514 , with his children and his wife Caterina Acquaviva d'Aragona . It was in this period that the interiors of the castle were decorated with depictions of horses from the stable of the Count, famous for its horses . The technique used for the performances is that of flattened , with a plaster figure in bas-relief on which to base the color . Of each horse are reported as age, race, name, coat color and the symbol of the ' H, ie the stable of Henricus . Inside, there are still one fourteenth-century staircase , the floor, the gallery called the Horse Racing , a beautiful loggia with arches and the Hall of the Horse of Charles V, Emperor Charles V specimen given in gratitude for having appointed Count Henry Duke of Boiano . Finally, the Salone dei Conti, the Hall of the Theatre and a special garden complete the tour of the rooms in the castle of Venafro .

The complex of Split Mountain embeds itself in the context of three fissures of the rock. Followed by a flight of 35 steps, which leads to deep, evocative central slit, which, according to Christian tradition, would have formed the death of Christ. To the right of the church along a corridor discovered on the walls of the Stations of the Cross at tiled panels, by R. Bruno (1849): under every picture the verses of Metastasio. Along the steps leading into the bowels of the mountain, along the narrow cleft of the rock, you see the wall right next to a Latin couplet with the so-called Hand of the Turkish, the shape of a hand (five fingers into the rock) which, according to legend, would have formed when a sailor turkish unbeliever was leaning to the rock that miraculously became soft under his pressure forming the imprint of the hand. Itri is an Italian town of 10,658 inhabitants in the province of Latina in southern Lazio. At 170 m above sea level, the town is located in a quaint valley between the western slopes of the mountains Aurunci (step of San Donato), just 8 km from the coast. It is located along the route of the Via Appia, between Funds (with which bordered to the west) and Formia (with which bordered to the east). Itri also borders the city of Esperia to the east; north with Lenola. To the south the land overlooking the sea with a rocky coastline called Punta Cetarola, where there is the beach of flacca ancient, and 'situated between the navies of Gaeta and Sperlonga, also is part of the town of Itri The beach of boot, site in the Plain of Sant 'Agostino. The site had an attendance in prehistoric times: remains have been found of the Neolithic era (stone tools and obsidian) and Bronze (Valle Oliva, II millennium BC). The late Albino Cece claimed to have found in the area Campello d'Itri the remains of a Talayotic civilization dating back some four thousand years ago, deducing that this plateau was inhabited by the people of Lestrigoni, and that here was to be built the city of Telepilo founded by Lamo perhaps coming from the city of La'mia in Thessaly. It was part of the territory Aurinci, then conquered by the Romans, who built the Appian Way in 312 BC The site gained importance as a strategic place, but not formed an inhabited very consistent, although it is likely that there is a small town, if only as a post. The sources, in fact, does not refer directly to any city between Funds and Formia. The name probably derives from the Latin iter (way, way). In 1911 there were in the town of about five hundred thousand Sardinian immigrants arrived to work the fifth batch of the Rome-Naples. In the national context were already present elements of racism against the Sardinians, called sardegnoli, which did not disappear until the companies of the Sassari Brigade in the First World War. The emigrants were receiving a lower salary than other workers, but refused to pay any bribe to the Camorra, then infiltrated by the contract, and to guard tried to form a league of self-defense Operaria. On 12 and 13 July, following futile pretexts, occur two ambushes involving the same chiefs in the country, the indifference of the police. Were counted, not without difficulties and obstacles, 8 and 60 injured victims, all Sardinians, while the Court of Assizes of Naples thirty-three defendants were acquitted by jurors and nine convicted in absentia, to thirty years in prison. Local sources of the time, talk of a rebellion against the Sardinians from the population tired to endure bullying violations and abuses of all kinds, how the Sardinians were in the psychological condition of the conquerors in this south-central recently conquered by their King and itrani found no defense in the Savoy State while the Sardinians was accorded a kind of tacit safe conduct so as to bring exasperation now itrana not new to acts of violent resistance. During World War II, in May 1944, the bombing destroyed the country and its monuments to 75%.

Discovering Roccamonfina, an extinct volcano in Campania. Roccamonfina is a municipality in the province of Caserta (Campania). The territory of the municipality is part of the Regional Park of Roccamonfina and the mouth of the Garigliano. The village is located about 600 meters above sea level, inside the crater of the volcano of the same name, on the eastern slopes of Mount Holy Cross, which is the cone terminal. To recount the history of this extinct volcano is Donatella De Rita, professor in geological sciences at the University of Rome 3, which we will talk about the Roccamonfina volcano, now a piece of the world covered with chestnut trees. The Roccamonfina volcano on the border between Lazio and Campania is the southernmost of the Districts ALKALINE-potassic volcanic Lazio. And 'considered extinct and its eruptive activity is dated between 630,000 and 50,000 years ago. The volcano currently occupies an area of about 450 square kilometers for a base diameter of about 15 km, its caldera walls elliptical elongated in NW-SE direction with a diameter of more than 6 km and the current building has a height 1006 meters. These numbers make it a volcano of considerable size, for example, more than those of Vesuvius which reminds of the morphological structure. In fact, as Vesuvius, Roccamonfina can be classified as a polygenetic volcano with a summit caldera derived from the collapse of primordial volcano within which you built a new volcano that is represented in Roccamonfina the outpouring of the dominant Lattani.

The first evidence of this is the 1132 chapel is located in the immediate vicinity of the church of San Paolo a Ripa d'Arno, to which he remained attached until the sixteenth century, then passed under the management of the Benedictine nuns of the monastery next door. Small in size, has an equilateral octagonal, surmounted by a pyramidal spire, entirely in brick. Brick is made of the rest of the structure, the sides of which are marked by blind arches and pillars jutting out to all sixth, set on a square stone base, the height of which increases gradually from east to west, which indicates a probable reconstruction of the structure original. In the most western side looking towards St. Paul lies the entrance, while in the four tables adjacent to it, two on each side, open trifore supported by a frame in molded elements, with marble columns and capitals supporting brick arches, surmounted by an oculus. This latter element is also found in the three tables devoid of opening, characterized by a continuous masonry infill, is of the same type of frame. Visitors can enjoy incredibly beautiful views, like Villa Borghese in Rome, the Italian capital. Villa Borghese is the most famous city park for walking or cycling in. It represents an unparalleled experience between art, containing the Borghese Gallery with its masterpieces, and the nature surrounding it, among lakes and ancient trees. Latium is also full of spas, whose history is bound to the several thermal water springs that had great success in the Republican Age and continued to be used in the Imperial Age. The Romans built sumptuous thermal baths and we can still admire their vestiges around the territory; first of all, the Terme di Caracalla, in the heart of Rome. Tivoli is another spa, but its fame is mainly due to the artistic beauties it contains, like Villa D'Este, with its splendid fountains, gardens and magnificent palace of the Renaissance, and Villa Adriana, the ancient residence of emperor Adriano. The two villas are in the World Heritage List by Unesco. For those who prefer the sea, this region offers some real pearls like Gaeta, Sabaudia, San Felice Circeo, Sperlonga and the islands of Ponza and Ventotene, while those who love lakes will enjoy Bracciano, an enchanting stretch of water encircled by the intense green of the surrounding nature, overlooked by a magnificent sixteenth century castle.
