The only Biferno river is entirely Molise. It has a length of 95 km and flows into the Adriatic Sea to the south of Termoli. It was formerly called Tifernus and legend has it that at its source s'insediassero the first Sunni preceded by the sacred ox, waves Boviamum - Today's Bojano - city founded by them. The most important sources, the caput flumini, is undoubtedly the Matese prominent, in most pools at the beginning and has an average flow rate of 800 liters per second. After a few hundred meters of the four rivers converge sources of Santa Maria dei Rivoli and, later, at a distance of about one kilometer downstream from the bridge St. Augustine, the sources Torno. The Biferno has a tortuous path quiet even though the origins, without steep ravines and sudden falls. After passing through the area east of the Plain of Bojano the confluence of the river Quirino, the river it flows in a narrow valley, full of masses of tufa and steep terrain that leads up all'invaso Liscione or Lake Guardialfiera. From here, where the valley widens and takes on the characteristics of lowland Biferno continues its journey along the Plain of Larino to the sea.

Cagnano is a white village perched on a rocky outcrop that allowed a defense easier. The provision of urban housing may seem a little chaotic, but responds to specific charges. The village lies on a hill which, according to tradition, was the seat of the ancient Italian city of Uriah, also mentioned by Pliny and Strabo. It would be interesting to find out what this center links tied to those of Uriah the same name located in the eastern regions. We know that during the Middle Ages the city was surrounded by walls but today there are still many traces of that period. Over the centuries the center was a feud of some families of which remains a witness in the Baronial Palace, an ancient Norman fortress, restored several times over the years. The houses and streets are positioned in such a way as to facilitate the flow of rainwater and sewage downstream, preventing the formation of unsightly puddles in the streets, as now made of pebbles and stones. Masses so the houses are lit throughout the day, painted white absorb less heat from the sun, and to deal with icy winds in winter, the houses are built next to each other protecting. They still see the remains of ancient walls that protected the residential units gathered around the Baron's Palace, also called the House, which was the gateway of the city. The foci of Capoiale and Varano opened in recent times, are two access routes to the sea and avoid stagnation of water which in the past was due to malaria. Base for submarines and seaplanes during the war, the lake is now one of the main resources of the country. The economy is based primarily on fishing and tourism is developing.
