Calasetta is the second largest urban center of the island of S. Antioco and for its traditions and retains its unaltered typical of his orgini Tabarkan and Genoa. Life in the center of Calasetta began around 1769, when a group of Tabarkans from the island of Tabarka (an island situated in front of Tunis), but originally Pegli (near Genoa), asked the king Carlo Emanuele of popular the northern coast of the 'island of S. Antioco, just opposite the island of Carloforte. By the House of Savoy, in fact, since the early years of domination on the island had always intended to promote the repopulation of the whole island, including the island of S. Antioco, where the first settlers arrived tabarchini, and then Piedmont finally, Sicily. The town stands on a hill which descends towards the harbor, giving the country shaped like a polygon. The center seen from an idea of extreme severity for the regularity and order of its straight streets intersecting at right angles to form a grid. The origin of the name and the adjective Calasetta calasettano pose interpretative problems. According to Spano, it derives from Calasge'dda, diminutive of Cala. The oldest attestation of 1752, however, suggests the name of Calasei followed in 1754 by Calastra to indicate the coastal area and Cala di Seta to indicate the hinterland. In 1757 Calaseda (Spanish), and finally Calasetta and Cala di Seta alternate in the first written documents about the country. The territory of Calasetta has numerous beaches of breathtaking beauty. The coast of Calasetta is steep and rocky and sandy and low in the west to the north east. The coastline has suffered three major fractures that correspond to three beautiful beaches: Spiaggiagrande or Porto Maggiore, the Salt and Sottotorre. Of unrivaled beauty of a rocky bastion in the west that extends up to 10 m in depth that has contributed to the creation of caves and rocks to great effect. One of the most striking examples of the work of the sea is undoubtedly The nest of sparrows, a couple of rocks emerging from the water so named for the many birds that take refuge. Calasetta is very famous for its distinctive urban tower which appears frequently in the images of the country. Built before the foundation of the town, around 1737, was built by the Savoy in defense of the channel between the island of S. Antioco and San Pietro.

The favorable location of the site , located at 176 meters high, allowing a formidable glance which reaches to Cape Teulada, embracing a considerable part of the sea . The second part , facing south , consists of a singular body , of semicircular shape in the front. Viewed from the front , the appearance is that of a coastal watchtower with a lot of weapons on the curb and pavement which once stood the antenna of the radio . This is Inside the operating room where a circular open seven large windows from which you can easily keep an eye on a large stretch of beach . An elegant iron staircase takes you to the upper terrace where there is a lookout room with pitched roof . Porto Flavia is situated along the south-west coast of Sardinia, between the coast and the rock of Sugarloaf Mountain , which lies a few hundred meters away in the mining town of Planusartu (fraction of Iglesias) . The plant was designed in 1925 by engineer Cesare Vecelli ( who gave him the name of his eldest daughter ) to reduce the high costs of transportation of the ore extracted from the mines in the area. Until its entry into operation, the centers of mining the ore was transported by oxcarts to the warehouses placed in close proximity to the beach Planusartu. There had been built a pier for docking of small sailing vessels Latin America ( the racks of Carlisle ) of 10-13 tons, which were loaded with baskets carried on the shoulders by many workers, galanze' carlofortini . From here the boats were heading to the island of Carloforte, distant 10 miles, with a safe haven, and there unloaded the ore . SARDEGNA

A journey sailing on an emerald sea among small and big coves with snow-white sand and this is Sardinia, an Island that strikes its visitors with natural contrasts, the lights and colours of a region that guards old traditions, amid wilderness and pure nature. Situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, Sardinia is a mainly mountainous region, without high peaks, with a vast and charming, yet bittersweet, natural environment. In fact, the presence of man does not seem to affect this territory; great surfaces still preserve their natural composition, luxuriant woods with even millenary trees, small desert areas and marshes inhabited by deer, wild horses and rapacious birds. The sea reigns over this region with its colours and it creeps into the coves, along the coasts, the beaches and the most popular resorts. An example is the Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast) with its pearl, Porto Cervo, that combines the history and culture of a region that has old traditions with a joyful and colourful nightlife. Porto Cervo was named after its enchanting cove, which looks like the antlers of a deer; the Old Port is considered the best-equipped tourist port in the Mediterranean Sea. Porto Rotondo is also a famous location; it overlooks the wide Gulf of Cugnana and is full of villas and piazzas embedded in a splendid natural environment. Those who prefer the mountain to the sea can explore the area of Gennargentu, the greatest mountain range in Sardinia, with its peculiar landscape, where Man and Nature joined one another and decided that the latter should have the priority. This region is rich in flora and fauna, with its mouflons, golden eagles, Sardinian deer and several species that are now threatened with extinction. Among its wonders, Sardinia offers the visitor the Nuragic complexes scattered all over the territory. These are unique monuments in the world that testify an ancient culture, that remains partly mysterious, and that went from the fifteenth century to the sixteenth BC. The Nuragic constructions were built using great blocks of stone and develop around a central cone-shaped tower that transmits strength and power. These are archaeological sites where it is possible to grasp the archaic charm of ancient rituals and domestic life. Of these many constructions, the complex of Barumini, in the province of Cagliari, is among the sites in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The provinces of the region are: Cagliari (regional capital), Carbonia-Iglesias, Nuoro, Olbia-Tempio, Oristano, Medio Campidano, Sassari and Ogliastra.
