The Mine Sos Enattos , located in the territory of Lula in the province of Nuoro , has a long and colorful history . It dates back to 1868 granting Mine Sos Enattos society Paganelli, interested in the exploitation of minerals of silver and galena in this area that had been exploited since ancient times. After the realization of some of the first industrial factories and mining operations required for mining, oilfield revealed his secret : he was less rich argentiferous lead , but contained an incalculable amount of sphalerite , mineral, which at that time was considered uncommercial . In 1905 occurred the historic passage to the Company Anonymous Des Mines De Malfidano , Franco- Belgian mining company . The site was abandoned for several decades after World War II and met new studies and research that led the RI.MI.SA. , a company funded by Montevecchio and later by Monteponi - Montevecchio, to carry out important works and a small plant treatment minerai extracts . This mine is set in a landscape of great beauty. It is a short distance from the Monte Albo , d by the European a site of Community interest. In the immediate vicinity , as a symbol of an important artistic and cultural heritage of the area, we find the Church of San Francesco. The beautiful rural church has always been so dear to the miners and their families . Dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi, the sacred building is known in Barbagia with the name of St. Francis of Lula.

The Caves of Neptune (in Catalan Coves de NEPTU) are karst formations located about 24 km from Alghero, in the north-west of the promontory of Capo Caccia, in the homonymous protected area in north-west Sardinia. The cave was discovered by a local fisherman in the eighteenth century, and since then proved to be a popular tourist attraction. The cave gets its name from the Roman god of the sea, Neptune, is managed by the Autonomous Tourist Office of Alghero. Given the particular location of the opening to access it, the entrance to the caves is only possible if the weather and sea conditions permit. To access it you have two options: using a staircase of 656 steps that winds along the side of the massif of Capo Caccia, known as Escala Cabirol (in Catalan, Ladder of deer, because of the particular shape that winds up on the headland. the other option is by boat, departing from the port of Alghero from car dock or Dragunara in Porto Conte, this option is recommended especially if you're visiting the coast and / or you have no desire or ability to do the 654 steps, a difficult task, especially for the return. the ferry service is active daily in the fall and spring and lower frequencies in the fall and winter. Until 1959, the date of completion of the Escala Cabirol Neptune's Cave was visited only by sea, and therefore only accessible in calm sea conditions. This situation made a lot of problems because the reputation of the cave did meet a lot of personality as well as tourists who sometimes were not able to visit it. Already from 800 lots of ideas and projects were also very imaginative. The most common was to build a tunnel that starts from the south of Capo Caccia, point mostly quiet especially with the prevailing winds of the mistral, it leads to the cave. In the famous book of the traveler Sir John Warren Tyndale The Island of Sardinia published at the end of '800, the Tyndale had suggested this solution, because in spite of a very long at Alghero he could visit with his great frustration, and had to refer to the deion of the other writer / traveler Alberto Ferrero Earl De La Marmora, who wrote the book Voyage en Sardaigne.

The small village of Planargia , surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, is just 3 km from the blue sea of Bosa and coves of the coast that leads to Alghero. There are different interpretations about the origin of its name , Modolo may derive from the name nuragico Madala , an ancient term , introduced in Sardinia by migrants from the East Asia; or it could be originated from the Latin Modulus , is attributable to a small extent that the method used by the ancient peoples of these valleys to channel or intubate the water of the nearby sources. In Roman times there was already Module Vallis , center crossed by the road from western reaches Sulki Neapolis , Othoca (the current St. Just ) , Cornus , in the Gulf of Oristano , and continues to Bosa and Nure , until Turris Lybissonis , today's Porto Torres. The name is maintained throughout the Roman era , transforming the current Modolo only in the medieval period. Among the archaeological monuments must remember the Domus de Janas at Silatari and Coronedu . It is prehistoric burial structures carved into the rock , built by the people who lived in the area in the Neolithic era . You can not not also visit the Nuraghe Albaganes and Monte Nieddu , large stone monuments , evidence of a thousand year old civilization : a people of shepherds and farmers , divided into small communities , who lived in Sardinia for eight centuries and built these amazing structures , the use of which is still uncertain. Near the town you can still see the remains of an ancient monastery , probably the residence of the Dominican friars , and those of a Roman villa . They are located in the historic center , however, the church of Santa Croce, dating from the seventeenth century , and the parish church dedicated to St. Andrew the Apostle. The latter, built in the medieval period , it was destroyed by fire in 1828 and then rebuilt . Today, following the work of restoration , retains some of the features of the original . Inside there are several well-preserved wooden statues dating back to the seventeenth century. Finally, another church that is worth visiting is the one dedicated to Our Lady of the bunch .

The small Sardinian coastal resort of Stintino is located on the north west peninsular of Sardinia and is some 50 km north of Alghero. Travel time to the town by car from Alghero is approximately one hour. The tip of the peninsular at Capo Falcone is around 4 km further north from Stintino and the area is dotted with hotels and villas. Turning south past the cape, the landscape drastically alters into a line of rugged cliffs towering up to 50 m above the sea. Town The resort of Stintino was founded just over one hundred years ago when the state requisitioned the island of Asinara for use as a prison. The resident fishing families were relocated to the current site which is conveniently situated between two natural inlets. The town is essentially a compact grid of largely residential streets sandwiched between the two harbours that were built on the inlets. In the absence of the usual central piazza, the harbours (Porto Nuovo to the north and Porto Vecchio to the south) are the main focal points for tourist activity. Needless to say this means that the restaurants in Stintino are well known for their seafood. Beaches The rocky peninsular boasts one of the top beaches in Sardinia at La Pelosa. Located to the north of the town, just short of Capo Falcone with the watchtower of Torre Falcone in view, the fine white sands are lapped by shallow, warm, tranquil waters that stretch the short distance across to the Island of Piana. Its popularity means crowds at all but the lowest times of the season and with the relatively small size of the beach, visitors will find that room on the sand is at an absolute premium in July and August. There is a car park opposite the beach and more parking available on the approach road. Expect to pay around one euro an hour to stop here. One kilometre to the south is the beach of Le Saline. This gets its name from the salt works once set here and operated by the monks of Santa Maria di Tergu. As well as a Spanish bastion the salt lagoon often attracts flocks of flamingos. Islands It is possible to take a boat trip from Stintino, and sometimes La Pelosa, to the nearby Islands of Piana and Asinara. The tiny Island of Piana is home to a solitary watchtower whilst the larger Asinara was granted national park status at the end of the 1990s in an effort to allow wildlife to flourish and so has restricted access.

Located on the north west coast of Sardinia, holidays to Alghero have become increasingly popular in recent years, yet the city still retains its distinctive Catalan character. This derives from the influence of Pedro IV of Aragon who seized control of the town in the mid-fourteenth century and embarked on an intense period of colonization from Spain.Today, Alghero manages to combine its role of tourist city with that of a thriving marina. This enables it to maintain a year round economy outside of the busy summer months. To the north of the marina is the fine sandy beach of Alghero which provides good bathing opportunities just a short stroll from the historic centre. At the end, on a shelf at about 4 m above sea level you reach the entrance of the cave, triangular shape that looks like a jump in the well. The cave is only accessible in calm sea conditions or at least not too rough. In the case of strong storms input it is not possible and you can create dangerous situations for those who find themselves inside. The rather labyrinthine cave is very beautiful, very concreted, adorned with eccentric and as I said lavishly decorated by the circles on the floor, covered by the study that I am conducting with Luca and Francesco, following the discovery similar in the Cave Imbroglita (Fr). The Elephant Rock is a large boulder trachytic and andesitic , with a strong rust-colored , greatly eroded by the elements that have conferred the singular appearance of an elephant sitting . The rock , which has a height of about four meters, is located in the town of Castelsardo Multeddu resort , 4.3 km to the SS 134 connecting said common Sedini . Originally the stone was part of the complex rocky mountain Castellazzu which broke away from rolling downhill. In addition to some important tourist landscape , the Elephant Rock is also of considerable archaeological importance for the two Domus de Janas, dating from the period Prenuraghic that are hosted inside. The Domus de Janas , made in two successive stages , are located on two different levels. The upper one , the first to be excavated , has only three rooms and lacks the covered pavilion which preceded it , probably collapsed along with the prospect of the grave. The walls , flat and straight, have sculptural motifs . The second underground , which opens below, on the contrary, is very well preserved : it is made up of four rooms and was originally preceded by a dromos , which is a short hall , partly covered and open-air in the initial section . It is accessed via a narrow rectangular hatch 0.50 to 0.55 m . Of particular interest is the presence of a bovine proteome , a decorative element common to several Domus de Janas, carved in relief on the wall of a cell . Its unique curvilinear style , which denotes a phase artistic quite evolved , it allows to trace the construction of the tomb in the first half of the third millennium BC This type of protome is stylistically similar to those found in the tomb of the necropolis of greater S'Adde ' and Asile of ( Oxy ) , Tomb V in the necropolis of Montale (Sassari ) , IV and VI in the tombs in the necropolis of Calancoi (Sassari ) the Benefit and in the domus of the Garden Parish of Sennori .

Argentiera is a fraction of Sassari located in the north-west of Sardinia. Is 43 km from Sassari and 34 from Alghero. The resort is one of the most evocative of Sardinia for the special beauty and variety of landscape with mountains consist of stone silver lapping at the shore. Until the sixties was in operation a mining plant for the extraction of silver with most of the structures in wood. Mining ceased in 1963. Currently all facilities and most of the houses built in a particular style with the stones of the place, are disused and abandoned. The site is of Community importance and currently has funded a massive project of recovery and restructuring. It is one of the places considered a sanctuary for nature activities and in particular for trekking. Argentiera is part of the historical and environmental geo-mining Park of Sardinia and constitutes the Area 4 along with Nura and Gallura. At the end of July, in the main square of the village is held from 2010 a literary festival, with guests of national caliber. 2014 was attended, among others, the presenter and actress Geppi Cucciari, author and director of Pif and Senate President Pietro Grasso. Here were filmed the opening scenes of the film Boom!, Hollywood film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, then set entirely in front of the Isola Piana, with Richard Burton who disembarks from a motorboat to go up by a cable car on the mansion built as the main set of the film. Here were also shot the final scenes of the film Seeking Asylum, Marco Ferreri, starring Roberto Benigni, Dominique Laffin, Chiara Moretti, Carlo Monni, Girolamo Marzano, Luca Levi, Franco Trevisi and Francesca De Sapio. SARDEGNA

A journey sailing on an emerald sea among small and big coves with snow-white sand and this is Sardinia, an Island that strikes its visitors with natural contrasts, the lights and colours of a region that guards old traditions, amid wilderness and pure nature. Situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, Sardinia is a mainly mountainous region, without high peaks, with a vast and charming, yet bittersweet, natural environment. In fact, the presence of man does not seem to affect this territory; great surfaces still preserve their natural composition, luxuriant woods with even millenary trees, small desert areas and marshes inhabited by deer, wild horses and rapacious birds. The sea reigns over this region with its colours and it creeps into the coves, along the coasts, the beaches and the most popular resorts. An example is the Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast) with its pearl, Porto Cervo, that combines the history and culture of a region that has old traditions with a joyful and colourful nightlife. Porto Cervo was named after its enchanting cove, which looks like the antlers of a deer; the Old Port is considered the best-equipped tourist port in the Mediterranean Sea. Porto Rotondo is also a famous location; it overlooks the wide Gulf of Cugnana and is full of villas and piazzas embedded in a splendid natural environment. Those who prefer the mountain to the sea can explore the area of Gennargentu, the greatest mountain range in Sardinia, with its peculiar landscape, where Man and Nature joined one another and decided that the latter should have the priority. This region is rich in flora and fauna, with its mouflons, golden eagles, Sardinian deer and several species that are now threatened with extinction. Among its wonders, Sardinia offers the visitor the Nuragic complexes scattered all over the territory. These are unique monuments in the world that testify an ancient culture, that remains partly mysterious, and that went from the fifteenth century to the sixteenth BC. The Nuragic constructions were built using great blocks of stone and develop around a central cone-shaped tower that transmits strength and power. These are archaeological sites where it is possible to grasp the archaic charm of ancient rituals and domestic life. Of these many constructions, the complex of Barumini, in the province of Cagliari, is among the sites in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The provinces of the region are: Cagliari (regional capital), Carbonia-Iglesias, Nuoro, Olbia-Tempio, Oristano, Medio Campidano, Sassari and Ogliastra.
