Stunning cobalt sea, windswept mountains and a charming film about a postman go some way to explaining why the Aeolians (Isole Eolie) are the European Holy Grail for island-lovers. The seven islands of Lipari, Vulcano, Salina, Panarea, Stromboli, Alicudi and Filicudi are part of a huge 200km volcanic ridge and lie between the smoking stack of Mt Etna and the threatening mass of Vesuvius above Naples. Collectively, the islands exhibit a unique range of volcanic characteristics, which earned them a place on Unesco's World Heritage list in 2000. This is an area of extraordinary natural beauty but, unfortunately, the word is out, so visit out of season if you can

In the center there are 2 main beaches: the black beaches (Porto di Ponente), so named for the color of the sand of volcanic origin, occupy a beautiful bay, unfortunately, often very crowded, and the beach of fumaroles and is bathed by the warm waters heated by bubbling sulphurous steam that can reach very high temperatures (be careful, it is easy to burn yourself). The secluded and uncrowded beach Gelso is instead the opposite side of the island and can be reached by sea, by bus leaving from the port of Levante (very low hours) or driving the Provincial Porto Levante on Vulcano Piano and then branches to the Mulberry Capo Grillo. The beaches of Levante are affected by volcanic events: in many places the water ribolleper the presence of gas sources underwater. Immerse yourself in the warm water is very pleasant, as well as healthy.

SICILIA

Sicily is the largest Italian Island, separated from the continent by the Strait of Messina and lapped by the Ionian, the Tyrrhenian and the Mediterranean Seas. It is one of the pearls of Southern Italy and can be discovered, understood and experienced through a series of itineraries dedicated to all tastes ranging from nature to history and tradition. Nature seems to have endowed all of its wonders to this land: mountains, hills and above all the Mediterranean Sea, with its incredible colours, its crystal-clear water and the beauty of its seabeds, in no way inferior to those of other seas. Here, the Mediterranean Sea, with its many little islands scattered around the coasts of Sicily, offers unique and intense sceneries, scents and flavours of an uncontaminated nature. Last but not least, are the great volcanoes, symbols of the irresistible exuberance of this incredibly charming region. The fascination of this region grows with the precious archeological vestiges that tell the story of the ancient origins of Trinacria (ancient name for Sicily). The provinces of the region are: Palermo (regional capital), Agrigento, Catania, Caltanissetta, Enna, Messina, Ragusa, Siracusa and Trapani.
