The Castel Toblino (Schloß Toblin in the texts of German language) is a rare example of a castle lake. Located in the Valley of Lakes between Padergnone and Sarche in the municipality of Calavino, in the province of Trento. The hotel is perched on a small peninsula and protected wet the lakeshore. Its location has obvious reasons of defense strategy that takes advantage here is the natural conditions of the terrain, and the presence of the important road junction linking Trento and the valleys of the Sarca and the Churches. The square shape of the complex is one of the signs of greater interest in the large circular tower, certainly the most obvious of the pre-existing medieval. The wide crenellated walls surrounding the entire complex and the large park surrounding the residence adds a further distinctive. Currently the castle is privately owned and is used as a restaurant. The castle owes its fame, as well as the beauty of the environment, to the many legends that aroused. According to one of these, of literary and not born of the popular imagination, Toblino would have been in the seventeenth century place of delight for Claudia daughter of Lodovico Particle, a native of Fossombrone, with Carlo Emanuele Madruzzo, Prince Bishop of Trento and last of Madruzzo. Proved futile pleas to the Pope in order to obtain the dissolution of priestly vows, the prelate would be abandoned to a sinful relationship with Claudia. This report was chosen by Benito Mussolini as the subject of his historical novel The Lover of the Cardinal. Claudia Particle, written in 1910. A set of legends relatively recently created to stimulate the imagination of visitors, see Carlo Emanuele conspirator's death Claudia and her brother Vincent, both tragically drowned in the lake. Another story tells of the thwarted love of Aliprando Toblino with Geneva, the beautiful castle of Stenico. One night when he came home Aliprando riding along a trail was ed by Graziadeo Castel Campo his rival in love.

The brand Mela Alto Adige IGP (German Sudtiroler Apfel ggA) indicates the apples grown in Alto Adige with traditional production methods. South Tyrol is the largest area devoted to European concentrated fruit. Of the more than a dozen varieties of apples grown locally eleven have obtained in 2005 the European mark of protected geographical indication (PGI) and are therefore recognized throughout Europe as regional specialties. The brand Mela Alto Adige IGP is used by all distributors in South Tyrol for the export product. It seems that the first apple trees in Europe have developed in Kazakhstan, Central Asia. Apples arrived later in Greece along the Silk Road, and finally reached even the Tyrol at the time of the Roman conquests. In this area, the cultivation of apples took place in the Middle Ages, mostly at the hands of the monasteries, which were then custodians of knowledge relating to methods of cultivation and the different varieties of the fruit. Even farming families exploited for several centuries the apple for their own self-subsistence. Even then, the South Tyrolean apple was exported to the north across the Alpine passes. The construction of a railway line that ran through the Brenner, in 1867, facilitated further exports. Between 1880 and 1890, the South Tyrolean fruit growers won a certain amount of land for cultivation by regulating the course of the Adige and the subsequent reclamation of wetlands surrounding. Towards the end of the nineteenth century, were born at last the first cooperatives of fruit growers. Since then, the cultivation of apples in South Tyrol has always had a great importance.

The Autonomous Province of Trento involved the demolition of the old prison of Trento - designed in 1876 by Austrian architect Karl Schaden and symbol of the Austro-Hungarian kingdom - following the planned construction of a new Prison. The Austro-Hungarian prisons and the old Palace of Justice are parts of a single monument and their architectural value is given not just from being a monument end in itself, but a building unit, a unique set that must be safeguarded and respected. The difference in the architectural language was solely due to the different functions of the buildings. An error d wanted by the Superintendent in 1993 prisons an artifact-free historical and artistic value, while being maintained on the bond Courthouse. This mistake would be merely a bureaucratic facilitation for small adjustments functional building prisons. In an era when no one imagined that one day you could think of the demolition of the building. The warden asked it on a sheet of plain paper: The building is protected?, The Superintendent replied in a few days: After consulting architect ... the commission states that the prison is devoid of historical and artistic value this without any internal inspection and without documentation. Have been collected over 5,000 signatures in the Census of Places of the Heart in 2008 and have been realized thanks to the many meetings of the Delegation of Trento. In 2010, the FAI has presented an extraordinary appeal to the Head of State to prevent the demolition of the prisons. The provincial government by a resolution was withdrawn from the Findings of the head of state forcing the FAI to turn to the TAR, also requiring a suspension of the work. The Administrative Court rejected the appeal of the FAI. In May 2011, the FAI has appealed to the Council of State against the decision of the TAR of Trent; in June 2011, the FAI and Italy Nostra write to the Director General of the State Property to urge him to ask the Superintendent to initiate the procedure of verification of cultural prison. Despite the negative outcome of the appeal, in April 2013, the Provincial Councillor for Personnel, Local Authorities and Public Works, Mauro Gilmozzi, communicates a willingness to reconsider the need to break down the structure of the prison, reversing the line so far followed by Province who in late 2011 had approved the final design for the rationalization of the new judicial center. On 20 February 2014 was finally averted the danger of demolition of the old prisons, following a decision of the Autonomous Province of Trento, which has determined that the project of the new judicial center of the city, which included the demolition of the structure of Austro-Hungarian, and is resized consequently the prisons are not torn down but recovered fully.

Lake Toblino (Tobliner See in German) is a small alpine lake in the valley located in Trentino, surrounded by a lush reeds and vegetation particularly interesting. The lake and the surrounding area has been d a natural habitat for both botanical interests both ethological, and is as such protected by the Autonomous Province of Trento. Bathing is not technically prohibited, but the low temperature of the water and strong currents strongly advise against it. It is located at an altitude of 245 meters above sea level, and occupies the terminal part of the Valley of the Lakes, not far from Trento, near the villages of Padergnone, Sarche, Vezzano and Calavino. The lake was formed by damming by an alluvial fan created by the exit of the gorge of the River Sarca Limaro'. It is a basin with very small dimensions; Moreover, after the construction of the nearby waterworks Santa Massenza, in 1951, has triggered a process of sedimentation that, in addition to slightly muddy the waters, it is slowly decreasing depth. The lake is in a unique condition, in terms of climate and the nearby mountains show the typical characteristics of the alpine areas, the action in the valley of the lake and foothills of the mild climate of Lake Garda allow the development of sub-Mediterranean species or even in cultivation of Mediterranean species. For this reason, since 1992 the biotope Lake Toblino is protected. We can find as deciduous conifers, and therefore pines but also oaks, willows and oaks. In the lower river basin have also thrived plants laurel, rosemary, lemon and olive trees. There are, of course, lake and marsh species (water lilies, reeds, lamineti). As for wildlife, should be mentioned at least one lake. In addition to fish species (eg trout), the most interest is represented by water birds: there are ducks, swans, coots, mallards, Cetti's warbler, the great crested grebe and the gray heron. But one must not forget the pre-Alpine and Alpine fauna of the surrounding areas to the water.

The term 'speck' first appears in Tyrol's history in documents dated back to the 18th century. However, the word makes was first used under different names and definitions in the trade registers and butchers' ordinance as far back as the year 1200. The term has its roots in the Middle High German word 'spec' and the Ancient High German word 'spek' and actually translates into 'something thick, fat.' South Tyrol's history documents that South Tyrolean farmers originally cured speck to preserve the meat. The ham was intended for home consumption. Traditionally, pigs were slaughtered during the Christmas Season. The production of speck ensured that farmer's had a supply of preserved meat for the entire year. The ham recipe was carefully guarded and handed down from generation to generation. The ancestral seasoning secrets from more than 100 years ago still give the speck its typical taste today. Speck Alto Adige is in no way related to the standard fatty pork belly speck described by the common German term. Speck is the result of a combination of two methods used to preserve meat: the standard Mediterranean style curing process for raw ham and smoking, which is a process typically used in Northern Europe. As a result, a unique South Tyrolean ham was created based on the traditional rule 'a little salt, a little smoke and a lot of fresh air.' Speck is an ingredient used in numerous typical South Tyrolean dishes, such as the South Tyrolean Speck Dumplings. In South Tyrol, this ham paired with bread and wine, is the main component in the genuine 'Marende' and the typical South Tyrolean snack platter. Over the centuries, Speck Alto Adige has been continually upgraded and is now considered a star ingredient by many award-winning chefs.

Castel Coira (Churburg in German) is a medieval castle in Schluderns (BZ), which collects the largest European private armory. The construction began around 1260, on the initiative of the prince-bishop of Chur, Heinrch von Montfort. The core of the castle consisted of the tower, in the wall and into the palace. It was built to contain the expansion of the lords of Mazia (Matsch). The diocese of Chur succumbed to Meinhard, Duke of Carinthia, who gave the castle in 1297 precisely to Mazia. In 1504 the extinct Mazia took over the accounts Trapp. To them we owe the reconstruction of the palace and the chapel, but also the Renaissance frescoes (including two family trees) and the loggia. All the castle rooms are furnished with furniture and furnishings dating back to different eras of the manor, from a wooden Madonna dating back to 1270. In the hall of the ancestors, are collected portraits of all Trapp from 1600 to 1800. The hall armor is probably the best known. There are preserved about 50 suits of armor, as well as swords and other defensive weapons, all in excellent condition. This is the armor belonged to Matsch, the Trapp and the guards of the castle. The most important piece of armor is 2.10 meters high dating back to 1450. The heavy armor 46 pounds, is the work of the dealer Milan Missaglia and belonged to Ulrich Matsch.

The sanctuary of St. Romedius is a shrine dedicated to the figure of St. Romedius - situated on a steep rock outcrop, the beautiful natural scenery of the Val di Non, in the municipality of Coredo. The sanctuary consists of five churches built over a period of about nine hundred years between 1000 and 1918. The five churches were built in the shelter of a steep rock face and are joined together by a spectacular staircase of 130 steps. It is visited every year by about 200,000 people, and is guarded by two brothers of the Order of St. Francis of Assisi. Romedius lived between the fourth and fifth centuries, the heir of a wealthy Bavarian family, lord of a castle near Innsbruck and owner of saline in the valley; After a pilgrimage to Rome, he gave all his possessions to the church and retired to a hermitage in the Val di Non in some caves still exist today in the vicinity of the sanctuary. They followed him two companions, Abraham and David. It is said that one day, having to go to Trento to greet Vigilio, then bishop of the city, he asked David to saddle the horse: the disciple returned with the news that a bear had mauled the horse. Romedius was unimpressed and ordered him to saddle the bear, which - here's the miracle - meekly allowed himself to put the saddle, then Romedius leading up to Trent. This episode is remembered by a wooden statue placed next to a triumphal arch at the entrance of the Sanctuary. For over five hundred years, the rock that housed the ancient shrine stood naked, with a staircase discovery and some newsstands now disappeared. At the bottom were the stables, shelters for pilgrims and the caretaker's cottage. The original church dedicated to St. Romedius was built around 1000 on the tomb of the saint, with stones brought up there by the ancient pilgrims. The cult of St Romedius was officially recognized by the Church in 1300 and the devotion to the Holy town increased greatly in the fifteenth century, when the sanctuary was crowded by many pilgrims who brought votive offerings. In 1489 began the construction of the second church dedicated to St. George. Then in 1514 it was built the church of St. Michael in 1536 and the main church of St. Romedius. In the same period (sixteenth century) is the bell tower, still in Gothic-Cles. For the last was erected in 1918, the church of the Addolorata, as a sign of thanks to the Virgin for the newfound peace after the tragedy of the First World War. In 1700 the sanctuary dressed to the nines, accompanying the pilgrim visitor to the threshold of the tomb of the holy hermit Romedius. Buildings are rebuilt from scratch at the ground floor used for the reception of pilgrims, at the stalls and barns. The churches are embraced with the construction of 'apartment Counts and the gallery (1725), the sacristy and the library at the top. The second part of the staircase is covered and then animated with the newsstands of the mysteries of Christ's passion. Above the chapel of St. George rising two-bedroom dwelling; Finally, the entrance arch is erected on the sacred place (1770). During the twentieth century have been added, as well as the chapel of the parking lot with the shrine of St. Romedius (1907) and the enclosure for the Bears (1990). The bears were kept here transferred to the wildlife park Spormaggiore. Only at the beginning of 2013 a bear called Bruno, from the Abruzzo National Park was transferred to the sanctuary.

TRENTINO ALTO ADIGE

Trentino Alto Adige is situated in the very north of Italy bordering Austria and Switzerland and is the best known for the beauty of its peaks. Its territory stretches from the Adamello-Brenta range and the peaks of Ortles and Cevedale to the most striking mountains in Europe: the Dolomites of the Fassa Valley, Brenta, Gardena Valley, Fiemme Valley and Pale di San Martino. This setting encloses an extraordinary variety of landscapes: magnificent snow-capped mountain tops, woods, wide valleys, streams, lakes, enchanting light play between the spires of the Dolomites, typical villages with soaring bell towers, and the myriad shades of truly unspoilt nature. Hundreds of kilometres of ski slopes make this region a cutting-edge tourist destination - Madonna di Campiglio, Canazei, Moena, San Martino di Castrozza are the best known resorts, popular in both winter and summer for holidays surrounded by nature, sport and fun. The landscape of Lake Garda is particularly picturesque; the lake narrows in Trentino, and looks like a fiord between the high mountains. Land of confluence and meeting point between Latin and Nordic worlds, Trentino Alto Adige is the guardian of a remarkable cultural heritage, made up of prehistoric evidence, charming castles, sanctuaries and towns of great historical and artistic significance. There are a number of spa towns offering treatments and therapies, of which Merano, Lèvico Terme, Peio, Rabbi and Comano Terme are the best known. The provinces of the region are Bolzano and Trento.
